Who should take this course?
The VTCT (ITEC) Level 3 Certificate in Access to Aesthetic Therapies, offered by Hampson Training in partnership with VTCT, is designed for individuals who do not hold a Level 3 beauty qualification but wish to advance to higher-level certifications, such as Level 4 Certifications in Laser & Light Therapies and Skin Needling. This course serves as an entry point into aesthetics for new practitioners and those new to the industry, providing fundamental knowledge in areas such as skin and body care, consultation techniques, electrical science, and health and safety protocols. It is also suitable for qualified medical professionals seeking to transition into the field of aesthetics.
Course Structure
Part 1: Online Learning (80%) – approximately 80-100 hours
Part 2: Portfolio of Skin Analysis and Facials (20%) – 2 Days at Hampson Training Academy
It is recommended that you complete the units on Skin Analysis/Typing and Skin Preparation for Treatments and Consultation and Record Keeping before your practical dates at the Hampson Training Academy

Unit One: Anatomy and Physiology – Online Portal Work
This course covers various bodily systems and explores aspects of dermatology, microbiology, and trichology, including:
Skin: structure, function, and common issues (e.g., vitiligo, melasma, milia, scars)
Nails: structure and function
Hair: structure, function, and reasons for undesired growth (including medical conditions)
Cardiovascular system: function and structure (including the heart, blood vessels, and blood composition)

Unit Two: Skin Analysis/Typing and Skin Preparation for Treatments – Online Portal Work and Classroom Training
The objective of this unit is to equip you with the skills and knowledge to deliver facial treatments to clients, focusing on facial, neck, and décolleté areas. You will learn to prepare and administer professional treatments, including understanding treatment indications, benefits, effects, and potential contra-indications.
Topics covered include skin analysis based on a client’s skin type, secondary conditions, existing lesions, and optimal treatment approaches. Practical sessions will include basic facial techniques such as cleansing, exfoliation, steaming, blackhead extraction, and moisturizing.
Upon completion of this unit, you will:
Understand salon requirements for facial treatments
Comprehend the effects and indications of facial treatments
Be proficient in preparing for and administering facial treatments at Hampson Training Academy, where you will complete practical sessions on models.
Unit Three: Health and Safety – Online Portal Work
This unit aims to impart an understanding of health and safety principles within salon, clinic, or spa settings. It introduces key legislation, legal requirements, and regulatory factors governing health and safety practices and emergency procedures in the aesthetics industry. You will learn to identify hazards, assess associated risks, understand authority limits in hazard management, and maintain safe and hygienic work practices. The unit also covers locating firefighting equipment, first aid resources, fire procedures, emergency evacuations, and the role of a health and safety supervisor.
Upon completion of this unit, you will:
Understand principles of health and safety
Know how to maintain health, safety, hygiene, and security practices
Understand emergency procedures and the role of a health and safety supervisor
Unit Four: Consultation and Record Keeping – Online Portal Work
The focus of this unit is on client care principles during pre- and post-treatment consultations. You will develop the skills and knowledge necessary to conduct professional consultations, demonstrating high standards of client care. Communication skills will be refined to identify and communicate realistic treatment objectives effectively.
Upon completion of this unit, you will:

Unit Five: Electrical Science – Online Portal Work and Classroom Training
This unit provides foundational knowledge of electrical science essential for understanding the scientific principles behind electrical beauty therapy treatments.
Upon completion of this unit, you will:
Understand the structure of matter
Comprehend electricity and the effects of electric currents
Gain knowledge of natural and artificial electromagnetic radiation
Entry Requirements
Students aged 16 and over, A satisfactory basic education and an acceptable command of the English language.

You will receive a VTCT (ITEC) Level 3 Certificate in Access to Aesthetic Therapies that is fully accredited and industry-recognised.

Assessments are only applicable if you are taking a 'Classroom Course'. There is a 'in-person' assessment that is carried out by the tutor you are learning with.

We are located just opposite Tonbridge train station, which boasts mainline connections to both London and Ashford International.
We do not offer course kits included in the course price. However, after your course, you can purchase one of our course kits for you to train with outside of our premises.

Yes. All classroom courses require you to practice on a live model under the supervision of an experienced tutor. We sell model slots via our website offering the treatment at a discounted rate for all our classroom courses. If you know someone that would like to model, please let us know and we can book them in. For our Virtual Distant Learning courses you will need to provide a model on the day of your course.
Once you have purchased the course, one of our tutors will send an email to you with all the step by step instructions on how to log on to our zoom account and all the Username and Password instructions, ready for your live course date, however your online theory is available to start immediately.
